The Jacob is a rare heritage breed believed to trace its lineage back to the biblical story of Jacob, who was said to have bred spotted sheep. With their distinctive multihorned appearance — often bearing two, four, or even six horns — and multicoloured fleece, they are truly one of the most striking sheep breeds in existence.
This fleece was sourced from a small farm in the UK. Jacobs are recognized by both UK and North American rare breed conservation organizations, including the Rare Breeds Survival Trust (UK), The Livestock Conservancy (US), and conservation groups in Canada, as a valuable primitive breed worth preserving.
The fleece itself is springy, with a moderate crimp and natural luster. Jacob fleeces are uniquely variegated, with natural shades of white, grey, brown, and black. These colours each have their own distinct texture and staple length which are unique features in this one-of-a-kind pelt.
This is a vegetarian fleece, sheared humanely and without harm. It is backed with 100% Merino wool, giving it a soft, natural, and cozy finish throughout.
By purchasing this fleece, you’re directly supporting small-scale conservation farming.
