Cotswold Fleece — “Louisa”
Born: April 8, 2020

This fleece comes from Louisa, a rare Cotswold ewe known for her luminous, golden-tipped curls. Cotswolds are a heritage British breed, treasured for their high-lustre wool, calm temperament, and historical significance — often referred to as the “golden fleece” of England.

Louisa was lovingly raised on a small family farm in Saskatchewan, where she was part of a carefully maintained flock dedicated to preserving this endangered breed. Cotswold sheep are considered threatened by both Canadian and international livestock conservancy organizations. In fact, in all of North America, only about 200 Cotswold sheep were registered last year — making this fleece as rare as it is beautiful.

This particular fleece is heavy and very dense, with a stunning natural sheen that enhances its high lustre and curly texture. The fiber glows in natural light, showcasing the rich character and beauty that make Cotswold wool so beloved.

This is a vegetarian fleece, sheared humanely and without harm. It is backed with 100% Merino wool, giving it a soft, natural, and cozy finish throughout.

By purchasing this fleece, you’re directly supporting small-scale conservation farming and helping to preserve the legacy of the Cotswold breed in Canada.
